For 2019, the new G-Vectoring Control Plus is standard across all CX-5 models. This technology uses small changes in engine output to shift weight to the front tires whenever the driver turns the steering wheel. What’s new is that it also improves steering response as the driver straightens the steering wheel by adding a hint of braking to the outside front wheel.
The 2019 Mazda CX-5 Sport comes standard with the familiar SKYACTIV-G 2.5 engine with cylinder-deactivation technology, which shuts off its two outside cylinder in cruising conditions for even more efficiency. The engine is paired to an efficient, quick-shifting SKYACTIV-DRIVE 6-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift mode and Sport mode and is rated to deliver 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard while Mazda’s predictive i-ACTIV all-wheel drive is available on every trim level.

The 2019 Mazda CX-5 Touring adds the full i-ACTIVSENSE suite of safety features, such as Lane Departure Warning with Lane-Keep Assist and full-speed Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go function. The new CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve trim level includes all of the features found in the Grand Touring Premium Package but also comes standard with the turbocharged SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine and i-ACTIV all-wheel drive. This engine generates a robust 310 lb-ft of torque at low RPM and 250 horsepower on 93 octane gasoline. (227 horsepower on 87 octane gasoline).
Finally, the new CX-5 Signature tops the model lineup and features a host of premium features that help elevate the feeling of being inside the compact crossover SUV.
