2019 Kia Sorento Specs, Release Dates, Prices

The 2019 Kia Sorento is a popular entry in the midsize SUV class, where it competes with many strong rivals such as Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot. Not only slightly smaller than competitors, the Sorento also less expensive. Its value gets even higher when you look at the Sorento list of standard features that includes everything from Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphones integration to powertrain warranties good for 10 years or 100,000 miles.

This year, every 2019 Kia Sorento comes with 3-row or 7-passenger seating. Other updates include a new transmission, additional driver-assist features, and a premium Harman/Kardon audio system. All of these updates help the Sorento maintain its status not only as reasonable value, but also a smart choice among 3-row SUVs.

The 2019 Kia Sorento is a seven-seat SUV sold in five trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX and SX Limited. The base 2019 Kia Sorento L remains the cheapest model, but it’s still decently equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, a rearview camera, cruise control, stain-resistant cloth upholstery, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and a new 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system.

We’d suggest stepping up to at least the Sorento LX. Its the entry point for available all-wheel drive and other major options such as an acoustic windshield, blind-spot monitoring, and two rapid-charge USB ports. The LX V6 is even better, as it has a more powerful engine and new transmission, dual-zone automatic climate control and power driver’s seat.

Engine Specs

Kia has simplified the 2019 Sorento powertrain by eliminating the mid-level 2.0-liter turbo engine. Lower trims remain to use the 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with a revised 6-speed automatic transmission. Higher trims have a 3.3-liter V6 engine paired to a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard and all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional on all models except the base trim. In track testing, the 2019 Kia Sorento SXL AWD went to 60 mph from zero in 7.5 seconds. Depending on engine and drive configuration, the 2019 Kia Sorento is rated to tow between 2,000 and 5,000 pounds.
