Mercedes has revealed details of the new SL63 AMG, which will star at the Geneva Motor Show next month – and it’s quicker, more efficient and an incredible 125kg lighter than before.

The previous car’s naturally  aspirated 6.3-litre V8 has made way for a 5.5-litre twin-turbo engine. This offers 12bhp more power, at 530bhp, but can be boosted to 556bhp with the AMG Performance pack. Fuel economy has been improved by 30 per cent to 28.5mpg and CO2 emissions are down from 328g/km to 231g/km.

The SL63 covers 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds, or 4.2 seconds with the AMG Performance pack, and features AMG Sports Suspension and an Active Body Control system to prevent roll in corners.

Mercedes has yet to announce prices for the folding hard-top stunner, but a figure of around £110,000 is likely when the automobile goes on sale in the summer.
