On Tuesday, we posted an audio recording of a mystery car’s exhaust note. To hear it again, click play above. One commenter did the impossible—or what we thought impossible, anyway—and identified the car (singular) in the recording. It was indeed a truck with a five-speed automatic transmission, our own long-term 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. Now is when you demand that we explain the second half of the sound clip. Well, we outfitted our Ram with an adjustable exhaust cutout, and that’s the glorious noise it makes when wide open. The truck is nearing the end of its 40,000-mile run, and we’ll have more info on the cut-out when we publish the wrap.
Like the noise as much as we do? Download the MP3 and quiz your friends, make your own ringtone, or just lull yourself to sleep with sweet, sweet vehicular ear candy.
