Who stated hybrids have to be dull? This is the first picture of the CR-Z that has been altered by Honda’s official tuning partner MUGEN with a comprehensive set of cosmetic upgrades which can be added by Honda dealers.
Buyers will be able to pick from a catalogue of new body accessories, including a deeper front splitter complete with daytime running lights; side sills, a rear diffuser and an oversized boot-mounted rear wing.
Interior improvements include MUGEN branded gear knobs, additional dials and a carbon fibre rearview mirror.
However, unlike our recent scoop on the forthcoming green, mean CR-Z Type R, anyone hankering after more performance will be disappointed. Tuning parts are currently limited to a new sports exhaust, racing-spec brake pads and a new intelligent tyre pressure monitoring system.
The CR-Z goes on sale in the UK in the summer. But buyers will have to wait for parts to become available from MUGEN’s Northamptonshire-based European subsidiary. However, Honda has pledged to make the accessories available at selected UK dealers from this April giving plenty of scope for buyers to customise their cars.
