Ford has released a new picture of the B-MAX, showing that the original concept car’s clever sliding doors have made it to the production car.

The B-MAX’s B-pillars are integrated into the sliding doors, allowing for a large 1.5-metre long opening on either side of the car. Also carried over are flat-folding front passenger and rear seats, which combine to produce class-leading cabin space.

Ford’s exterior design director, Stefan Lamm, says: “Door systems like this have been a designer’s dream for many years.” He went on to say: “We have taken the concept from an idea on a designer’s sketch pad, to a stylish and versatile product on the showroom floor.”

The Ford B-MAX is set to go on sale in September, with prices expected to begin at around £12,000. Further details on specs and engines are likely to be announced closer to its unveil at Geneva in March.
